Disabilities Special Report – Community Consultations

OCYA_logo

Do you care for, support, or work with young people who have disabilities and are also involved with the child intervention (including PSECA) or youth justice system?

We want to hear from you!

We are working on a special report about the experiences of these young people, and we are interested in hearing from significant people in their lives (including caregivers, friends, and family), as well as other relevant stakeholders.

For this report, we are defining disability as:

“Any condition of the body or mind (impairment) that makes it more difficult for the person with the condition to do certain activities (activity limitation) and interact with the world around them (participation restrictions).” – Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)

You’re invited to attend one of our virtual community consultations to share your experiences and help us learn:

  • What is and is not working for young people with disabilities in the child intervention and youth justice systems
  • What changes could help makes things better

Virtual Consultation Dates:

  • Thursday, February 2, 5 p.m.
  • Monday, February 6, 7 p.m.
  • Friday, February 17, 9 a.m.
  • Wednesday, February 22, 1 p.m.

Please RSVP to events@ocya.alberta.ca.

When you RSVP, please let us know if you need accommodations during the meeting.

If you’re unable to attend but would still like to share your thoughts, please email jay.vandermeulen@ocya.alberta.ca to arrange an individual consultation.
